Digestive issues
Many people suffer from digestive issues, including bloating and wind, indigestion, reflux, heartburn, constipation or diarrhoea. Your gut is where you process and absorb the nutrients from your food. These nutrients are then used for the millions of processes in our bodies that are necessary for our health. Did you know that the gut is home to nearly 2kg of bacteria? This bacteria is good bacteria needed not only for good digestion, but also for a healthy immune system, keeping the bad bugs in check. So poor digestive health can lead not only to the digestive symptoms mentioned, but also to immune problems including recurrent infections, allergies and eczema. Stress plays a big factor on digestion too. We cannot “rest and digest” if we are stressed and in “fight or flight” mode. Managing stress can be an important component in treating irritable bowel syndrome. As you can see, treating the gut and optimising digestion can be key to resolving many health issues.
